Villa K3
Villa K3 is located on a hill overlooking the west coast of Sicily, in the province of Trapani. The building was designed by carefully studying the orography and morphology of the site, which is characterised by a significant slope, in order to obtain an ample semi-basement volume. The study of the section was the primary element in the design of the project, as can be seen in the main rooms that flow seamlessly into each other: the living room and the kitchen-living area. Simple architectural elements consisting of vertical and horizontal planes meet and delineate a functional and spatial study of the volumes. This composition is emphasised by a strong horizontal feature: a long cantilevered canopy that shelters and shades the large window that characterises the main façade. From here, the wide view of the valley extending to the sea can be admired without interruption.

The focal point of the project is the double-height space of the kitchen and living area, which stands out from the villa's profile as a compact volume, highlighted externally by a natural stone cladding. A large window on the roof terrace captures the warm light from the east.

Light plays a fundamental role in this project, shaping the simple forms that characterise the volume through a continuous interplay of shadows. For example, the zenithal light, which enters through a circular skylight on the terrace, highlights the transition space between the living and sleeping areas, accentuating the textures of the materials used.

The team, which was also responsible for designing the fixed furniture and custom-made storage solutions according to the clients' requirements, paid great attention to the energy efficiency of the property, through the careful selection of solutions for the technological systems, which have made the villa smart and fully eco-friendly.
