Wine Cellar Baglio Donna Franca
Baglio Donna Franca is immersed in silence. It is among the vineyards of western Sicily. It once belonged to the Florio family. It served as a base for sourcing grapes from the Birgi plateau. The grapes were the sole ingredient used to make Marsala wine. Today, in the same location, the current owners, producers of high-quality organic wines, continue to pass on the culture of "Perpetuo" wine and the typical wine-making methods of this area.

The new volume is functionally relevant to the company's activities and features two iconic elements that reflect the concept of the project: the roof's curved shape, inspired by a wine bottle, and the division of the interior space of the refrigerated exhibition rooms, which echoes the broken line of the woody branch of a vine.

Ground floor plan
The project's design has taken into account the existing architectural features of the baglio, recognising them as an integral part of the landscape. The result is a contemporary and original volume that seamlessly blends with the historical structure.

The new room has been designed as an attractive gallery of taste, connecting the existing reception and restaurant volumes. It is made up of several rooms that communicate with each other. These include an ample space for tasting, which has a fully glazed wall that opens onto the courtyard of the baglio, and six rooms with climate control for displaying wine.

The new building's design, which is entirely metal-framed, has been carefully planned to blend into the natural surroundings, taking into account both the landscape and the preservation and enhancement of the existing baglio. This approach ensures the building's integration into its environment, with a thoughtful selection of materials.
